Vancouver Public Library - Central Branch
Project Type

In Vancouver, a 1,850-square-metre green roof over the public library’s central branch grows drought-resistant bunchgrass and kinnikinnick. The green roof is in fact part of building’s cooling system and can spare 20 to 50 percent of the air conditioning in the summer. The green roof also helps to retain around two-thirds of rainfall, which then filter down to ground-level storm systems.
