The city of Boulder, CO identified that their outdated fire station was in dire need of a rebuild and relocation in order to better serve the community in terms of response time and efficiency. Davis Partnership Architects were brought in to being the new vision of Fire Station #3 to life and tackle the challenges of matching the community and fire department’s needs and wants. The new location now offers an industry response time of four minutes to a portion of the city that was not covered. The building also achieved its goal of net zero energy consumption by following LEED best practices to incorporate low-maintenance, highly-durable building materials, equipment, and finishes.

Hydrotech is proud to have our Garden Roof® Assembly protecting roughly 5,000 square feet of occupied space and excited that the firefighters can take a break to enjoy the view from their own private amenity deck. The vegetated roof will also help to reduce and delay stormwater runoff, mitigate the urban heat island effect, increase the biodiversity of the area, reduce heating and cooling costs, and extend the life of the roof.
