The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is a scientific society dedicated to working to ensure a sustainable future. In 2016, they looked to renovate their existing building to target net zero energy. This meant that the total amount of energy used yearly is equal to or less than the amount of energy created onsite. With innovative technologies and renewable power generation, the building incorporated the engineering principles of reduction, reclamation, absorption and generation, which successfully led to DC's first net zero renovated building and LEED Platinum certification.

Hydrotech's Protected Membrane Roof Assemblies (The Garden Roof®, Ballasted Roof, and Ultimate Assembly®) each contributed to the sustainability plan and will be protecting and beautifying the building for decades to come.
