151 North Franklin is a 35-story, Class A office tower located on the northeast corner of Randolph and Franklin Streets in Chicago. This location made construction coordination difficult with navigating semi-truck deliveries, moving equipment, material hoisting schedules, and product installation. Hydrotech worked closely with the design and construction teams to help coordinate these challenges along with design and implementation of the Garden Roof Assembly and the Ultimate Assembly located on the various amenity and roof decks.
The building features a stunning rooftop sky garden, completed with Hydrotech's IPE Wood Tile Assembly. It’s a beautifully landscaped outdoor rooftop space exclusive to tenants that offers unique views of the windy city. It has high-altitude trees and plantings, and comfortable flexible seating suitable for entertaining or corporate events. Above the sky garden is a lush Garden Roof Assembly that stays pollinated by bees that call the rooftop home; the hive is overseen by a local Chicago beekeeper. The green roof will act as a type of sponge to absorb stormwater during large rain events; it will also help combat the urban heat island effect and reintroduces biodiversity to the downtown environment.
